Tomba ran over pesky gates as much as he skied around them, literally changing the course of racing. But his playboy panache made him more than a winner. When his coaches suggested he focus on his skiing, he made this concession: “I used to have a wild time with three women until 5 a.m. Now I will live it up with five women until 3 a.m.” If watching Tomba race wasn’t enough to make you take up skiing, seeing him have such a blast closed the deal.
