WINTER PARK, CO – (News Release) — Winter Park Resort opens for the summer season on Saturday, June 16, 2007, and with it comes many ways to make the most of your family vacation. From Colorado’s longest Alpine Slide and over 50 miles of lift accessible mountain bike trails to rafting the Colorado River and hiking through Rocky Mountain National Park just minutes away, Winter Park Resort is the summer hot spot for a great family escape.
Colorado’s Longest Alpine Slide
Featured in LIFE, America’s Weekend Magazine, as one of America’s Hidden Treasures — 21 Places You’ve Got To See To Believe, Winter Park Resort’s Alpine Slide is the longest of its kind in Colorado and a “must do when traveling to the area.
When sliding, riders climb into sturdy plastic sleds equipped with runners and hand-held brakes before speeding their way down 3,030 feet of stomach-in-your-throat dips and swooping turns. The parallel tracks (one for slower riders and one for adrenaline junkies) are accessed from the Arrow chairlift at the base of the resort. (Height restrictions apply).
Your bases covered when it comes to family fun at Winter Park Resort. Kids and kids at heart love the abundance of activities located at the base of the resort. The close proximity of each activity to one another makes it easy for families to fit in fun for everyone.
Vacationers looking for low key fun have their choice from such amusements as the resort’s Slopeside Miniature Golf Course, Amaze’n Human Maze and 18-hole Disc Golf Course, while those more adventuresome can test their courage on such thrillers as the Leaps & Bounds Bunge, Outdoor Climbing Wall and GyroEXTREME.
Winter Park Resort is located in the Fraser Valley and amidst one of nature’s most fun playgrounds. In the town of Winter Park, located just two miles from the resort, guests can bike along the paved Fraser River Trail, slide and swing for free in the town park, shop at local shops and dine globally all within a mile.
The Fraser Valley is also home to over 550 miles of interconnected mountain bike trails and such activities as hot air balloon rides, horseback riding, golfing, sailing, hiking, camping, fly fishing, spas and much, much more.
