Woodward at Copper Construction Underway

After heavy rain warnings caused the team to bypass the remainder of the north island, a 2 am ferry out of Wellington brought them to the South Island for the start of day two, surfing at Meatworks near Kaikoura and skiing at Mt. Lyford. Here, Angus basks in some of the only sun of the trip on Mt. Lyford.

It's was a big day for Woodward at Copper May 15 – they broke out the shovels and started moving dirt – all in the name of Progression!

Copper has begun construction on the 19,000 sq. ft. Woodward at Copper facility, set to debut Winter 08/09.  Woodward at Copper is going to change the way that skiers and riders grow their skills and progress the sport.  Woodward at Copper will offer year-round programming, with Woodward at Copper Experiences during the Winter 08/09 season and Summer Camps launching in 2009.

Using many of the same techniques already enjoyed by BMX, Skate and FMX pros, skiers and snowboarders will have access to a first of its kind facility dedicated to their sport.  The multi-million dollar training facility will feature progressive teaching tools including trampolines, foam pits, resi-pits and bungee systems.

Copper hopes to achieve Green Globes certification for the Woodward at Copper facility.
