Atomic Skis

Atomic has been focused on producing high quality skis for skiers ranging from beginners to pros. Their mission is to:

Atomic prides themselves as being pioneering, reliable, and synonymous with skiing.

History of Atomic Skis

Atomic has been a staple in the ski industry since it began in 1955. The brand was founded by Alois Rohrmoser in Altenmarkt, Austria. Amer Sports acquired Atomic in 1994, and, while this acquisition changed some of their manufacturing, a large majority of Atomic products today are still produced at their headquarters in Altenmarkt.

In 1988, Atomic engineer Rubert Hubert created the first powder skis. Up until this point, thinner skis were the standard model for skiing. Hubert started by gaining inspiration from the design of snowboards. This later led to the creation of a wider ski that enabled skiers to glide through fresh powder. This new powder ski was the “Atomic Powder Magic” which influenced a new age of fatter powder skis produced by all brands.

Atomic Skis Today

Atomic remains one of the top ski racing brands in the world. They also make a line of recreational carving skis, all-mountain boards, and skis designed for freestyle and freeride.

Straying from their racing roots, Atomic has been working with Chris Benchetler on an All-Mountain and Freeski line. The professional skier is also an avid surfer and has designed his line of skis to mimic the feel of surfing. He has been developing this top-selling line of skis with Atomic for the past 12 years.  Atomic continues to produce top of the line skis and gear for all disciplines.
