History of Dynafit Skis and Boots

Dynafit was founded in Graz, Austria in 1950 when they started the manufacturing and design process for their first pair of ski boots. These ski boots were launched to the public in 1965. Since the launch of those boots, Dynafit has consistently made innovations in creating lightweight ski and climbing equipment.

In 1983, Dynafit released the Tourlite which was the lightest ski/climbing boot in the world at the time. By the early 1990s, they launched the Tourlite Tech boot and binding combo. This combination was lighter than any other comparable bindings on the market. In 2014, Dynafit partnered with Pierre Gignoux to create the RC 1 binding and RC 1 ski running boot, which were again the lightest on the market.

Dynafit Athlete's

Dynafit’s athletes have made a significant impact on their respective sports throughout history. In 1973, Franz Klammer won the downhill race in Planai/Schladming, Austria in Dynafit boots. Three years later Klammer wore Dynafit boots when he won the Olympic men’s downhill in Innsbruck. Dynafit athletes continued to win downhill world cup event eight times in a row from 1974/75 to 1982/83.

In 2005, Benedikt Bohm and Basti Haag worked together to set the speed record on Mustagh Ata, completing their ascent and ski descent in 10 hours and 41 minutes. The Dynafit team succeeded in their speed ascent and ski descent on Gasherbrum II in 2006. Dyanfit’s women’s team finished the Haute Route plus in 2008 in Chamonix-Zermatt-Alagna in three days. In 2012, Dyanafit athletes set the speed record by completing Manaslu in less than 24 hours.

Dynafits team is stacked with pros in all disciplines. These days, Eric Poole and Eric “Hoji” Hjorleifson are two of the freeskiers representing the brand. Hoji has even partnered with Dynafit to design the Dynafit Hoji Pro Tour boot
