American downhill ski racer Lindsey Vonn holds the title for the most World Cup wins among both men and women with 20 titles, passing Ingemar Stenmark's 19 wins in 2016. Vonn is also one of only six women to have won World Cup races in each of the five disciplines—downhill, giant slalom, slalom, super G, and super combined.
In addition to her winning record, Lindsey Vonn is also known for battling back after injuries, the most recent being a broken arm in November 2016. She went on to win at Garmisch-Partenkirchen in January 2017, during her second race back.
Vonn also enjoys the distinction of being the only American women to ever win a downhill Olympic gold medal (Vancouver, 2010).
