Salt Lake City, UT, Oct. 10, 2000--Tickets for the 2002 Winter Olympics went on sale today, with over one million tickets up for grabs. Access to the most popular sporting events can only be gained by purchasing a package.
79 different "Olympic Experience" three-day packages are available, with skiing, hockey, figure skating, ski jumping, and snowboarding being among the sports spectators can attend only by purchasing a package. Packages allow spectators to attend two events a day, with a five or six hour interval between events, for three days.
Prices start at $155 for a round of men's bobsled, women's ice hockey, and cross-country skiing, while they can top out at $1,350 for the best seats at the most popular events including opening and closing ceremonies. A $20 processing fee, which covers the cost of shipping, will be charged for all Internet or mail orders, plus Utah's sales tax.
Ticket request forms are available on the Internet at http://www.saltlake2002.com/ or by phone at 800-TICKETS and will be accepted through December 12, 2000. Payment in full is required with request submissions, and tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis except for the first two weeks, when all ticket orders will be treated alike. Requests exceeding ticket availability will be awarded via a random-selection process in February 2001.
