Great snowmaking and grooming make this resort a dependable favorite for skiers in the Mid-Atlantic. Seven Springs boasts some of the best infrastructure in the world-no surprise, given that one of the owners is the inventor of the tower gun. Despite warm weather and a lack of natural snowfall, the resort was still open 113 days last year. "There was skiing when it was 65 degrees, with no natural snow anywhere," marvels one reader. The lack of long, challenging runs is a common complaint. But as another reader notes, the resort spans a "large lateral area with plenty of lifts." A new high-speed six-pack was put in last year to keep lines moving on busy days. The resort also stays open till 10 p.m., with extensive night-skiing to keep Pittsburgh commuters happy. And there's plenty to do off the slopes. Non-skiers can enjoy 700-foot tubing chutes, horse-drawn sleigh rides or live bands at the Foggy Goggle Bar. The main lodge spans a half-mile and offers bowling, mini-golf, indoor swimming, roller-skating and a variety of high-end and casual dining. The resort brings home gold in Family Programs and earns strong ratings for Lodging, On-Mountain Food, Dining, Après, Off-Hill Activities and Terrain Parks. One reader sums it up: "Everyone can find something to do." -Alice Sachs
