STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO- American Airlines will offer increased flight options to Steamboat — Ski Town, U.S.A. over the busy Christmas and New Year’s holidays with an additional 757 aircraft operating on December 26 & 27, inbound to Steamboat/HDN and outbound on January 2 & 3 from Steamboat/HDN to Dallas/Ft. Worth.
“With over two feet of snow already on the slopes and ideal snowmaking conditions, skiers/riders who want to enjoy Steamboat this holiday season now have even more flight options on American, said Andy Wirth, vice president of sales & marketing for the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation. “The addition of these flights completes our efforts to enhance Steamboat’s access during the key holiday timeframe. In total, we will have added 17 additional mainline jets to an existing, terrific, non-stop flight schedule for the primary holiday week.
Connecting with over 50 cities nationwide, the additional 757 flights from Dallas/Ft. Worth on Dec. 26, Dec. 27, Jan. 2 and Jan. 3 will operate on the following schedule:
American Airlines, which has provided nonstop service into Steamboat since 1986, will operate daily nonstop 757-jet service from Dallas/Ft. Worth and Chicago into the Yampa Valley Regional Airport from December 15, 2005 through April 2, 2006. In addition, American will operate four additional 757 flights over the Christmas and New Year’s Holidays. This service also provides convenient single connection service from hundreds of cities across the country.
First and last impressions of Steamboat continue to be enhanced as significant improvements take place to the Yampa Valley Regional Airport, just 22 miles/35kms from downtown Steamboat, during a multi-million, three-phase improvement project. The $16.3 million Phase II portion, currently under construction and due for completion in December 2006, includes 24,000 sq. ft. of additional terminal space, expanded gate areas, a new ticketing wing, curbside check-in, road realignment, parking lot upgrades, a new jet apron and deicing pad. Estimated at $6.5 million, Phase III is currently planned for construction in 2008 and will include a remodeled passenger lounge and additional baggage carousel.
