Are You "In The Mood?"

If you’re caught in an avalanche, Backcountry Access’s new Float 30 backpack will give you potentially life-saving flotation and neck support and make you more visible to rescuers. A rip cord on the pack’s shoulder strap releases compressed carbon dioxide that inflates a 150-liter air bag.  [$499;]To check out a video of this pack inflating, go to

Squaw Valley, CA, Nov. 28, 2001--Action ski and snowboard photography and video from around the world highlight the seventh annual "In The Mood" benefit, December 7, 2001 at the Resort at Squaw Creek.

"This event continues to grow in popularity," says Robert Frohlich, one of the organizers for the charitable evening. "It's a fun party, a celebration of the coming of winter, and a great way to give back to the community."

The evening program showcases the talents of the biggest names in snowsport photography and video. Featured artists include filmmakers Scott Gaffney, Tom Day, and Mike Hatchett. Nationally recognized photographers include Chaco Mohler, Dave Norehad, Robyn Scarton, Aaron Sedway, and Hank deVre.

"It's seldom, if ever, to see this type of talent under one roof," saysdeVre, whose professional imagery is annually featured in Powder, Ski, Skiing, and Freeze. "These people are today's forefront of ski photography."

All ages are welcome. There is no admission charge. The show begins at 7pm and beverages are available. A huge raffle with over 150 prizes is also part of the night's festivities. Proceeds benefit the North Tahoe High School Ski Team and Truckee Community Christmas Inc., an organization that helps feed the less fortunate over the holidays. Raffle tickets may be purchased at the door before and throughout the event. "In The Mood" is sponsored by the Resort at Squaw Creek, Lake Tahoe Brewing, Squaw Valley Times, and Squaw Valley USA.
