Truckee, CA, Feb. 27, 2001–(SAM Magazine) A couple of months after a deal was struck by Arizona Acreage LLC to buy Donner Ski Ranch for $10 million, the company backed out of the deal. According to local newspapers, the development company realized that in order to develop the 460-acre ski area, it would take too much time and money.

Arizona Acreage cited the California Environmental Quality Act and theshort window for construction as the biggest hurdles. Norm Sayler, president of Donner, claimed to have other interested parties andspeculated that the area would likely remain a small resort in the future.
