OBERHOFEN, Switzerland, Jan. 9 2004 (AP) — A men’s downhill race planned for Friday in the French resort of Chamonix was canceled because of bad weather.
The International Ski Federation rescheduled the race for Jan. 16 in the Swiss resort of Wengen. A downhill and a slalom already are planned there on the two following days.
Rain, snow and poor visibility on the course left organizers in Chamonix with no choice but to cancel Friday’s race, which was a replacement for an event that had to be moved from Bormio, Italy, in December.
