Beaver Creek Opens Sat., Nov. 23

BEAVER CREEK, Colo., Nov. 20, 2002 (Press Release) — Skiers and snowboarders can expect another epic opening day when Beaver Creek kicks off its season on Saturday, Nov. 23, with record snowfall and nearly two-thirds of its terrain available, including Grouse Mountain, Larkspur Bowl, Rose Bowl and Beaver Creek Mountain. Thanks to over eight feet of snow since October and hard work by mountain operations crews, Beaver Creek will open 950 acres of terrain serviced by seven lifts starting at 8:30 a.m. this Saturday.

"What a wonderful start to a very promising season. The conditions out there are the best we've ever seen this early in the season, said John Garnsey, Chief Operating Officer for Beaver Creek Resort. "We're already making history with our snowfall totals. We encourage everyone to come out and experience this record start to the 2002-2003 ski and snowboard season.

Beaver Creek has received over eight feet of snow since Oct. 1 and is reporting a 24-inch settled mid-mountain base and 35 inches at the summit. Snowmaking crews continue to make snow as weather permits. Skiers and snowboarders can access plenty of powder Saturday via seven chairlifts: Haymeadow (#1), Centennial Express Lift (#6), Birds of Prey Express Lift (#8), Westfall Lift (#9), Rose Bowl Lift (#4), Larkspur Lift (#11) and Grouse Mountain Express Lift (#10).
