BEAVER CREEK, Colo. - March 15, 2006 - Summer eats and musical treats can be found in Beaver Creek this Memorial Day weekend at the resort's annual Blues, Brews & BBQ festival, taking place May 27 & 28, 2006. This fitting start to summer - and mountain barbeque season - features a variety of Blues headliners and top BBQ chefs from the Vail Valley, Austin, Texas and Kansas City, Mo. In conjunction, the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek's ever-popular Colorado Micro Brewery Beer Tasting and Seminar features the largest exclusively-Colorado microbrew festival in the state.

"Beaver Creek's Blues, Brews & BBQ festival is a fitting start to the summer season in the Colorado Rocky Mountains," said Tony O'Rourke, executive director of the Beaver Creek Resort Company. "Enjoying time outdoors - taking in an open-air concert, feasting on mouth-watering barbeque, savoring a cold Colorado brew - offers a true summer mountain experience."

This year's two-day festival features BBQ chefs from the Vail Valley and Austin, Texas, as well as the winning Kansas City, MO, chef from last summer's event. The BBQ-ers will battle for top honors in the "People's Choice" Barbeque Cook-off, vying for a piece of the prize purse totaling $1,750. BBQ sampling takes place throughout the weekend and voting is scheduled for Sunday, May 28.

The Park Hyatt Beaver Creek's annual Colorado Micro Brewery Beer Tasting and Seminar features over 100 ales, lagers and stouts for sampling, a Brewer's Expo featuring over 35 unique Colorado-based micro breweries and brew masters, two optional seminars and live entertainment. The event takes place on Saturday, May 27 from 1-5 p.m. and proceeds benefit Beaver Creek's renowned Vilar Center for the Arts. Ticket are $35 per person in advance or $40 per person at the door. Call 970-949-1234 for ticket information.

The Association of Brewers notes that Colorado is becoming a brewers' capitol, producing more beer per capita than any state in the country. The active beer culture in Colorado is attributed to its #3 ranking for the number of breweries per capita.

This tantalizing summer festival also includes beverage and BBQ booths throughout the village offering a sampling of the weekend's best, as well as kids' activities and cooking demonstrations from Bon Appetit.
