Denver, CO, Sept. 21–This winter, the Denver Post will produce a weekly snow-sports section, as part of regular daily edition. The paper has teamed up with Colorado Ski Country USA, which acts as a marketing and promotions unit for the state’s 25 ski areas.
“This is an exciting new partnership between the Denver Post and Colorado Ski Country USA,” said Allen Walters, vice president of advertising for the Denver Post. “Beginning in November, the Denver Post will be the only newspaper in America with a weekly ski section.”
The weekly Thursday section will include snow reports, resort happenings, upcoming lift-and-lodging specials, and news from Colorado’s ski country. The series will start on Thursday, Nov. 11 and run for 20 weeks. Serving as a local paper for most of Colorado, the Denver Post covers one of the country’s largest drive markets for skiing.
“We are thrilled to partner with the Denver Post once again, and the new weekly special sections are a fantastic way of informing Denver and Colorado about what’s happening at their favorite resorts each week,” said John Frew, president and chief executive officer of Colorado Ski Country USA.
The two media groups will also continue to produce four special ski-related sections in the Denver Post, as they have in winters past.
The first of these sections starts with coverage of the Colorado Snow Sports Expo in Denver on October 31. The following three sections include “Ski & Snow I” on November 14, “Best of Winter” on November 21, and “Ski & Snow II” on January 16.
