Dr. Flaky: My buddies and I live in St. Louis. Should we head west or east for our ski trip?

Ask Dr. Flake

Whatever you do, head uphill. St. Louis is a river delta with no inclines save the Arch, and that's ttoo steep to hold snow (note Flake's previous answer, lazy skimmers). Obviously, you're debating between going west to ski Snow Creek, Missouri, or east to Ski Butler, Kentucky. Snow Creek is 23 miles closer, but Ski Butler's 600-foot vertical drop is twice as big as Snow Creek's, so that's the good doctor's vote. Dr. Flake also hears there are resorts in Colorado and Vermont.
