Durango,CO - Durango Mountain Resort's unique 4th Grade Ski Pass Program will expand again this season to include the New Mexico towns of Aztec, Ignacio, and Farmington. Strong turnout in last year's additions, Silverton and Bayfield, led program organizer and Director of Ticketing Judy Wachob to push the boundaries even further."More and more of the students take advantage every year," said Wachob. "I believe we are the first Colorado resort to extend a student pass program out of state. It just makes sense, as Farmington, Ignacio and Aztec come to Durango to ski, plus we've had a lot of requests from parents."
DMR's 4th Grade Pass program is sistered with Colorado's 5th Grade Passport Program and started with Durango's 9R School District. For a $10 administration fee, 4th Graders receive a DMR unrestricted Kids Season Pass. Schools provide Durango Mountain Resort with a list of all 4th graders names, and parents need only bring the student to the Main Ticket Office in Purgatory Village to receive a pass anytime after opening day. The program sees nearly 40 percent participation in the Durango area schools.
With the Passport program, 5th Graders all over Colorado register with Colorado Ski Country through a local representative, and in return receive 3 pass coupons to each of the 23 Ski Country member resorts. DMR goes a step further, offering an unrestricted Kids Season Pass for just $29 after all three coupons are used (valid for the rest of the season, normally priced at $349). Wachob has already toured many of the area schools.
