Father, Daughter Ski Australia on Way to World Record

Hello from Falls Creek, Victoria, Australia.

Australia is done!

We made it to the mountain yesterday (Tuesday, July 24) by 3pm. We had to take a Snow Cat up to the Silver Ski Lodge. We received great news upon our arrival that all six pieces of luggage were on their way. Amazing since United told us only one bag was on the plane and the last 5 were still at LAX.

We sat down to a great Japanese meal in the Lodge and by the time we were done, all our bags had arrived. All the folks at the Silver Ski Lodge were unbelievably helpful. Penny, James, Fraser, and Christian could not do enough for us!

Of course, Debbie Howie at Falls Creek was great too. She set us up for a day and a half of skiing and the accommodations — kudos!

We skied all day today and Victoria did great. She fell only once. We used all kinds of ski lifts — high speed Quads, Poma lifts, conveyor belts through tunnels — it truly was amazing. This place is very big and we had it all to ourselves. It's mid-week and the local kids are in school. The snow was surprisingly deep and the coverage was great. The snow is wet here and the trees still have leaves on them. We even saw big tropical type birds flying about.

We plan on skiing a half-day tomorrow and doing an interview at Cloud 9 restaurant up on the mountain. Then we'll take bus back to Melbourne and stay the night before we fly to Sydney where we'll try to catch a flight to Santiago, Chile on Thursday, July 27. The flight is full, but we will try to get on. We've had some pretty good luck so far. I hope it will continue!

That's all for now as we are ready to find some tucker (dinner).
