French Ski Giant Reports 5.4 Percent Sales Jump

Paris, France, June 28--Compagnie des Alpes (CDA), the giantFrench ski company that controls about 10,000,000 skier visits in Europe,announced a 5.4 percent increase in consolidated figures this season, ascompared to the 1998-99 season.

Sales for the French resorts within the group jumped by more than 5percent, which is almost double the national average for the ski industry.Additionally, CDA saw a 26-percent increase in sales of building rights atLes Arcs, La plagne and Les Menuires and a 7.4-percent jump in ski shopsales.

Net income for the year closed May 31, 2000 increased by 20 percent overthe same year ending May 31, 1999.
