Holiday Storms Pound Squaw

Olympic Valley, CA, Dec. 30, 2003 — Skiers and snowboarders awoke to blue sky and over 30″ of fresh powder at Squaw Valley. Since Christmas Eve, two back to back sierra storms have dumped over five feet of fresh powder on the resort’s upper mountain. Squaw Valley celebrated a white Christmas with over three feet of snow, followed by a second vigorous sierra storm that left another two feet of snow on Sunday.

“Fresh powder is a tremendous holiday gift for skiers and snowboarders this season,” said Eric Brandt, Director of Marketing for Squaw Valley Ski Corp. “The new snow, combined with the extremely cold temperatures has made for some of the best holiday conditions we have seen in years.”

The National Weather Service is calling for another storm to pass through over New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
