Opening Montage
In true Warren Miller fashion, the opening montage of the film is a big action sequence, highlighting the extraordinary locations and world-class athletes of Warren Miller's Playground. An adrenaline pumping playing field of deep powder and steep terrain is pieced together in a mosaic of radical winter expression.

Whistler Blackcomb, B.C.

Self-proclaimed redneck Dan Treadway rivals Eric Pehota in their version of the "Redneck Olympics. This hilarious tough-man competition highlights true backwoods challenges. Dan's snowmobile is proven here to be fun first because, "Treadway's snowmobile is a hybrid… it can be used for backcountry skiing… or just backcountry snowmobiling… Redneck or not, Treadway is a ripping skier who shreds through Whistler, British Columbia's backcountry with Shane Szocs, Jenn Ashton, and Ian McIntosh. With Whistler's astonishing lines at their fingertips, these Canadian athletes dive into the resort's thrilling terrain. The cameras follow the group as they drop impressive cliffs and execute perfect powder turns, and the only thing setting Jenn Ashton apart from the guys is her pink jacket.

The antics showcased at the annual US Freeskiing Open continually push the limits of freestyle skiing. Athletes raised the bar in 2007, throwing down incredible action and introducing innovative tricks in the slopestyle, halfpipe, and big air events. Warren Miller's Playground documents the sport's leading competitors as they make inventive attempts to dominate Copper Mountain's snow-covered Playground. These pioneering performances put a new age spin on traditional competitive skiing.

Cordova, Alaska

Whether it's competing in the X-Games or heli-skiing in Alaska, brothers Zach and Reggie Crist always travel together. While enjoying unparalleled Alaskan scenery, the brothers rip through unbelievable backcountry landscapes on an incredible experience, courtesy of Points North Heli Adventures. The Crists chase each other down shadowed lines of sun kissed peaks, stepping out of reality and into 1,500 square miles of Alaska's "blower pow and sunshine. Joining them is BASE jumper Dave Barlia, a legend in the sport's community and the proud operator of a globally recognized wing-shaped squirrel suit. Barlia soars along the hoary peaks at 130 miles per hour, delivering a feverish rush to spectators.

Bode Miller — Alyeska, AK

Olympic Gold Medalist Bode Miller is the 25-Time World Cup Victor and the sole character in the insightful narrative about "pushing the limits and "living on the edge. Bode Miler certainly embraces the rock star lifestyle, but he proves that his greatest passion is skiing when he hits the Alyeska backcountry. Here, Bode explains that skiing "is a freedom that's really…intimate to the soul. This trip, courtesy of Chugach Powder Guides, is an ambitious endeavor. The striking images showcased here definitely exemplify Bode's need for speed and humble the strong personality of this global superstar.

Backcountry Snowboard Plground

"The Sculptured House is the renowned residence in Woody Allen's blockbuster hit Sleeper, as well legendary Warren Miller personality, Chris Anthony's Playground abode. In this amusing segment, Chris Anthony prepares for a trip to Dubai with the help of some unique characters. This stage allows it to become comically obvious how easy it is to celebrate the spoils of Anthony's superstar successes… "There's the designer house in the hills…The supermodel girlfriend…and the personal assistant who keeps the whole operation running. The resident personal assistant lights Chris' Jet Pack, allowing him take off and fly though the air without the help of his skis.

Austin Ross and Andreas Hatveit give a tour and jib it up at Ski Dubi. These worldly athletes explore the surrounding desert on an exhilarating camel safari. From its beaches to its rich local culture, Dubai proves to offer a true Playground of progressive terrain.

As one of the first-ever unsolicited submissions to make mark in a Warren Miller film, the Brigham Young University Water Weenie Squad makes a splash in Playground. A seventy pound water weenie heaves fearless passengers off icy jumps, igniting a revolution in Playground techniques. These winter sports stars call for, "bigger air, bigger jumps, and bigger weenies.

Burton recently established The Smalls in an attempt to "better prepare for the future of snowboarding. This team is a force to be reckoned with, throwing tricks that pros often have trouble landing. Ben and Hans travel to the Bear Claw Lodge at Skeena Heliskiing in Northern British Columbia where they are reminded to seize the day because, "one day, that waist deep powder will only be knee deep.

Although it is often portrayed as an alluring celebrity destination, Aspen is a diverse mountain town that offers challenging terrain for devoted skiers and snowboarders — famous or not. As Olympic Silver Medalist Gretchen Bieler says, "It's not just a town that's glitz and glamour — it's so much more than that. Warren Miller legend Klaus Obermeyer and a group of world renowned athletes take a look at what it is like to live and train in Aspen, Colorado. Here, exciting X-Games footage is displayed against and contrasted with a backdrop of down-to-earth personal narratives about Aspen's favorite riders.

Although it is quite literally far-out, the Chugach Powder Guides operation allows the distant reaches of the Denali dominated Alaskan Chugach Range to be realized by those who goad the challenge. With only a satellite phone connecting them to the outside world, Chris Davenport and Cody Townsend take this virgin powder head-on and give us a thrilling ride through uncut Alaskan wilderness. As Chris describes beneath a luminous bluebird sky, "The rocks, the couloirs, the glaciers… are just massive.

It is a closed affair where only the world's most elite freestyle athletes are invited to show off their skills and compete in the world's most esteemed free skiing arena. Host Jon Olsson is considered a "superstar throughout Europe …as likely to be spotted at the runways of Milan's Fashion Week as the slopes of his home resort. This year's competition was blessed with good weather, amazing riding, an enormous and perfectly prepared jump, and impressive parties. The tricks thrown down at this 2007 event prove that New School skiers continue to amaze all, even the sports's skeptics.

Playground captures these "clinically insane athletes as they embark on a mission to descent the Alps by air and land, simultaneously.
