ZAGREB, Croatia, Feb. 18 2004 (AP) -- Olympic ski champion Janica Kostelic will undergo surgery on her right knee to repair damaged cartilage.
It will be the fifth operation on that knee since the end of the World Cup last season.
"It's a quick operation to shave and remove dislodged fragments of cartilage," spokesman Ozren Mueller said Wednesday.
He added that Kostelic is expected to begin light training in about a month.
The last six months have been tough for the three-time Olympic gold medalist and two-time World Cup champion. She has fought constant injuries and a serious thyroid problem that also required surgery.
