CHALLENGE
Leaning your whole body into the turn
Short, shaped skis turn easily-almost too easily. All you need to do to make a direction change is to get your skis on edge, put your feet together and tilt your body in the direction you want to go. But making truly great turns is a challenge if you lean your body into the turn: Initiating a turn with your shoulders and torso doesn’t give you much feel for the snow. It can also leave you vulnerable to a fall.
