Kirkwood Helps Hurricane Katrina Victims Through Season Pass Sales

Kirkwood, CA — Kirkwood and Share Our Strength have teamed up to donate $20 to the Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund for every Adult Value and Adult Full pass sold before November 1.

Kirkwood will donate $20 for each season pass sold between now and November 1 to Share Our Strength (SOS) who will distribute the funds directly to local organizations assisting victims in the affected areas.  From humble beginnings in 1984 as a handful of organized chefs, SOS has grown into a national non-profit that inspires and organizes individuals and businesses to share their strengths in innovative ways to end hunger.

Kirkwood’s culinary team will participate in SOS’s Taste of the Nation by organizing a special fundraising dinner in mid-November, proceeds from which will be donated to the Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund.  Taste of the Nation mobilizes thousands of individuals in the culinary industry to organize events, host dinners, teach cooking and nutrition classes to low-income families and serve as anti-hunger advocates.  Since its founding in 1984, SOS has raised over $180 million to support more than 1,100 anti-hunger and anti-poverty programs worldwide.

In addition to the donation of funds and the Taste of the Nation dinner, Kirkwood is asking pass holders that have already purchased a season pass, as well as other guests, to contribute to the Relief Fund.  Donations can be made at the General Store and the Season Pass Office.  100% of the donations will be directed to local organizations assisting victims in the affected areas.
