January 20, 2006

Aspen/Snowmass, Colo., (Aspen/Snowmass Press Release)—The snow continues to pile up at Aspen/Snowmass. The latest winter storm to roll through the area dropped up to three feet (91cm) in just three days. The resort has received more than 17 feet (520cm) of snow, or the height of an average male giraffe, since October 1. This is enough snow to fill the mammoth ESPN Winter X Games superpipe from bottom to top.

Currently, Aspen Highlands has a 90 inch base at the top of the mountain and Snowmass has a 70 inch base at the top of the mountain. Aspen Mountain currently has more than five feet of snow on the ground.

Along with the fresh new powder on all the four mountains, Aspen/Snowmass gears up for the highly anticipated ESPN Winter X Games TEN, January 27-31, 2006 on Buttermilk. ESPN Winter X Games TEN, the premier winter action sports event in the world, will feature nighttime events and will be telecast live on ESPN and ABC. The FREE Après X concert series takes place in downtown Aspen with Damien Marley and other acts to be announced.

AWOL Aspen and the FREE Bud Light Hi-Fi Concert featuring The Vandals takes place Sunday, January 29th. The event features a wallride at the base of Aspen Mountain where skiers and snowboarders scale an insane 30-foot wall feature while The Vandals perform on top of the wall during the action. This event begins at 5:30pm at the base of Aspen Mountain.
