Loveland Throws Mountaintop Mass Wedding

Finish off a great day with beers at the Sidewinder Saloon & Lounge in the base lodge. Doesn't get much better.

Georgetown, CO, Feb. 14–At high noon, snow swirled around 86 couples participating in the Valentine’s Day Mass Wedding at Loveland Ski Area, CO.

The happy couples gathered outside Ptarmigan’s Roost cabin atop Chair 2 to exchange wedding vows, 50 got hitched for the first time and 36 were renewing their vows. Most were decked out in skiing and snowboarding gear, in keeping with the weather, although a few couples chose to dress up in wedding attire.

“The mountaintop wedding has become a tradition at Loveland,” said Jacki McGurk, of Loveland’s promotions department. “Having over two feet of snow in two days and with it still snowing has made for a true white wedding.”

The snow only added to the excitement, as Judge Ruckriegle of Breckenridge, CO performed a legal wedding ceremony. Most of the newlyweds popped into a reception, immediately afterward at Ptarmigan’s Roost. However, many were quick to cut out and check out the powder.
