This recent series of cold storms has dropped light snow on Squaw Valley every day since February 28 and there's more in the forecast, guaranteeing that this St. Patrick's Day will be ideal powder conditions. If you haven't had a chance to make it to Squaw Valley this season, St. Patrick's Day is your opportunity to get out and enjoy the best conditions in North America at a price that is just right.
Pre-purchase your lift tickets online at www.squawshop.com and get in the St. Patty's Day spirit. These tickets are valid only on Friday, March 17, 2006. A limited amount will be available, so get them while they last.
The 'Where's the Shamrock?' Scavenger Hunt offers guests the chance to look for luck on the mountain and be rewarded with discounts and vouchers for food, gear, and lift tickets. Squaw Valley's leprechauns will strategically place several magnetic shamrocks at various locations around the resort. If you find a shamrock, the prize is yours! The hunt begins when the lifts open and lasts until the last shamrock is found. Once found, participants can redeem their pot of gold at High Camp's Poolside Café where they will be offering a lunch entrée. Each person is limited to one Shamrock prize.
After a full day skiing or riding, fill your belly at Patrick Callahan's 22nd St. Patty's Corned Beef & Cabbage Feed. Celebrate St. Patty's with the annual Corned Beef & Cabbage Feed in Bar One and the Sun Deck Tavern at the Olympic House from noon to 5 pm. The proceeds benefit the Tahoe Adaptive Ski School and the cost is only $10 a plate.
For the more romantic St. Patrick's Day enthusiasts, bring your lucky love up to High Camp for the St. Patrick's Day Dinner Special, a feast overlooking Lake Tahoe. Traditional fare will include corned beef and cabbage, mustard sauce, and many things green. $34 per person includes Cable Car ride and three course meal. For reservations call 530-581-7278.
