BORMIO, Italy, Dec. 28, 2003 (AP) — A men’s World Cup downhill was postponed until Monday because of heavy snowfall and low visibility.
The race will be held on a slightly shortened course at this resort near the Swiss border. The Stelvio downhill course is one of the most highly regarded on the World Cup circuit.
Sunday’s race was called off after three hours of delays. More snow is forecast for Monday.
The postponement allows Daron Rahlves to further rest his right knee. The American, a former Bormio winner, was injured during training Saturday and said Sunday he was having trouble crouching into racing position.
