KILLINGTON, Vt. (News Release) — Killington Resort, the Killington Chamber of Commerce and area businesses will host the second annual Mountain Wine Festival at Killington, July 18-20, 2003. The event, designed for those who simply love eclectic foods and fine wines, will showcase more than 85 wines plus various sittings for sampling, brunch, lunch, and dinner. In addition to the “Wine Experience” tasting event and activities throughout the day on Saturday, wine dinners will be offered on both Friday and Saturday evenings and the Sunday brunch has been enhanced. Winery representatives will be available at all events throughout the weekend to provide interesting facts and information and to answer questions.
SPECIAL TASTING DINNERS
This taste bud tantalizing event will kick off Friday evening, July 18, with wine dinners presented by Hemingway’s Restaurant, The Moondance Grille and Zola’s Grille at Cortina Inn & Resort, and on Saturday evening, dinners will be hosted by Birch Ridge Inn and The Inn of the Six Mountains. Each restaurant will work with a winery or a style of wine and craft their meal offerings with those specific wines in mind. The courses of each specially designed meal will be paired with the wines to bring out the best characteristics of the food and wines to exceed guests’ expectations. In the coming weeks, guests can visit killingtonchamber.com to view the menus for each meal as they are developed. Wine dinners are priced individually and reservations should be made directly with the restaurants.
Saturday, with the purchase of a ticket to the afternoon’s “Wine Experience” tasting event, guests can begin their activities with a gondola ride to Killington Peak, where they will enjoy wine and cheese samples from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. The “Wine Experience” ticket also includes admission to seminars at Cortina Inn & Resort on Saturday from 2-3 p.m., where guests can learn more about wine and share their experiences with other wine enthusiasts. Beginning at 4 p.m., the “Wine Experience” tasting extravaganza begins in the peaceful garden setting at the Cortina Inn, where there will be more than 85 wines open to test and taste. Tickets can be purchased in advance from the Killington Chamber of Commerce, or on the day of the event at the Killington Base Lodge until 12:45 p.m. or at the Cortina Inn & Resort after 1:30 p.m. “Wine Experience” tickets are $25 per person, inclusive.
On Sunday, a special Champagne Brunch at Zola’s Grille at Cortina Inn & Resort will be held from 10:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. In keeping with the wine dinner format, a sampling of sparkling wines will be available for tasting. Tickets are $20, inclusive and can be purchased through the Killington Chamber of Commerce.
