Mt. Bachelor Gets Two Feet

Bachelor Snow 12 15 04

Bend, Ore. Dec. 15, 2003--More than two feet of new snow during the past three days has left Mt. Bachelor with a base snow amount of 83 inches putting the Oregon resort at the top of the snowfall list among major resorts in North America.

After receiving 64 inches during the month of November the Mountain has already seen an additional 56 inches of fresh snow this month putting the resort on pace to receive well over 100 inches in December. The latest storm, with low temperatures of 19 degrees, dropped 21 inches of new snow in 24 hours creating perfect conditions for powder hounds.

"Our guests were walking around the lodge at lunchtime with giant smiles on their faces," said mountain spokesman Chris Johnston. "A couple of smaller resorts might have slightly more snow than we do, but no one else has that combination of cold, deep, dry snow that skiers and snowboarders dream of." Johnston suggested those planning on making a Holiday trip to Mt. Bachelor should book their lodging now. "It's still possible to find rooms by using our website Trip Planner page."
