SAM Magazine–Lakewood, CO Sept. 16–National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) received a $30,000 grant from the Forest Service as part of a Challenge Cost/Share Agreement in support of the development and writing of NSAA’s Environmental Charter for ski areas. This is in addition to a similar amount from EPA, with still another grant from that agency expected later.

Much of the cost for the charter is to pay for the facilitation services of the Keystone Center. The NSAA membership will also be asked to provide financial support for this project.

Regional meetings on the Environmental Charter are scheduled for October 2 (Breckenridge, Colo.), October 5 (Portland, Ore.), January 12 (Mt. Snow, Vt.) and January 26 (Snowbird, Utah). The January meetings are in conjunction with the Winter Conference and Trade Shows.

The Charter is scheduled to be ready for presentation at the NSAA Convention in Orlando, Fla., May 4-7.
