SOELDEN, Austria Oct. 22, 2003 (AP)–Olympic champion Kjetil Andre Aamodt broke his right ankle when he fell Wednesday while training and could be sidelined until January.
The Norwegian won gold medals in the super giant slalom and combined events at the Salt Lake City Olympic Games. He also was the 1994 overall World Cup champion.
Aamodt crashed while preparing for this weekend’s World Cup season opener in Soelden, Austria.
He was taken by helicopter to a hospital, where doctors planned to operate, Aamodt’s father told Norwegian state radio network NRK.
