Park City, UT, Jan. 9, 2002--Due to the last major phase of Olympic preparations, Park City Mountain Resort has experienced a significant planned reduction in on-site parking. As of Monday, January 7, 2002, the entire First Time parking lot, a major portion of the Silver King parking lot and one third of the Shadow Ridge parking lot have been closed to public parking. Remaining on-site parking will be reduced on Monday, January 28, 2002. Parking reductions will be in effect through the 2002 Olympic Winter Games.
Beginning Saturday, January 12, 2002, the flow of traffic through Park City Mountain Resort on Lowell Avenue will be mitigated to reduce congestion by enforcing one-way restrictions flowing southbound from Shadow Ridge Road to Manor Way. This traffic flow will be in effect from 8:00AM to 5:00PM. In addition, handicapped parking spaces located in the south end of the Shadow Ridge parking lot will be relocated to the Marriott Mountainside driveway.
Also beginning Saturday, January 12, 2002, supplemental Resort parking will be made available at the US-40 Park/Ride lot (use Exit 2 at Silver Summit) with transportation provided directly to Park City Mountain Resort between the hours of 8:00AM and 5:00PM. This transportation service is provided by the Resort and will operate daily through January 27, 2002 free of charge. On Monday, January 28, 2002, the Salt Lake Organizing Committee will begin servicing the Olympic transportation routes from the same US-40 Park/Ride lot. On Tuesday, February 5, 2002, Park City Transit also will begin Games-time service for visitors, employees and day skiers/riders from the US-40 Park/Ride lot.
