Jackson Hole, WY Mar. 27--Daron Rahlves ended his ski racing season today, by finishing third in the men's GS at the US Alpine Championships in Jackson Hole,WY.
Finishing third in his first run, Rahlves battled soft snow and slow conditions to keep his place on the podium after the second run.
"The snow was so soft for the second run that you would bury your ski when you laid the ski over on edge," Rahlves said. "I knew I had to be smart with my line. I was conservative because I didn't want to make a mistake. In fact, I might have been too conservative."
Conservative or not, Rahlves wrapped up his most successful ski racing season on the podium once again.
"It feels good to have GS back again," Rahlves added. "I had it in 1996-97, but with my injuries the last couple of seasons, I didn't have it. It'll be nice to get more GS points next season."
