Rahlves Leads Final DH Training Run

St. Anton, Austria, Feb. 2, 2001–World super G champion Daron Rahlves (Sugar Bowl, CA), looking pretty comfortable with hisnew crown, set the stage Friday for the World Championships downhill title race by leading the final training run. HermannMaier of Austria was second with Chad Fleischer (Vail, CO) fourth.

NBC will broadcast same-day coverage of the men’s downhill Saturday, starting at 4 p.m. EST.

Rahlves was timed in 1:24.11 as the men trained on the women’s combined DH course; the women’s combined downhill wasrun after the men finished.

Maier, bronze medalist Tuesday in super G behind Rahlves and fellow Austrian Stephan Eberharter, finished in 1:24.23 withFlorian Eckert of Germany third (1:24.45).

Fleischer was clocked in 1:24.52 while Jake Fiala (Breckenridge, CO) was 12th in the last training session with a time of1:25.21.
