Jackson Hole, WY Mar. 25–Daron Rahlves capped off his most successful season today by winning the US Nationals Super G. This victory is his first in five years of competing in the US Alpine Championships.
“Finally, it’s been eluding me for so long,” Rahlves told former US Ski Team team member, AJ Kitt.
Starting ninth, Rahlves hit the coarse as it remained hard-packed and skied the fastest run of the day, blowing past the gates like he was on rails.
“I felt good today,” Rahlves explained. “I was really bummed that I didn’t ski fast yesterday.” Rahlves finished in a disappointing ninth place in yesterday’s downhill
“The coarse today was tough, which is good for Nationals,” Rahlves added. “We don’t need an easy one. Coarses like this prepare us for the World Cup.”
Rahlves will ski in the giant slalom on Monday to wrap up the most magical season of his seven-year US Ski Team career.
