Long a mainstay in the Midwest ski scene, the Highlands still gets high marks from SKI’s readers for lifts, grooming, snow and lodging. “Best in Michigan,” lauds a reader-and it’s hard to argue with that assessment. Ten chairlifts, including a high-speed quad, quickly moves skiers around the mountain to access the Highland’s vast trail network of 46-some runs. Boyne Highlands makes the most of its 550 vertical feet (it’s the tallest ski hill in Michigan’s Lower Peninsula).
