Reader Resort Survey 2005: Midwest No.4 – Nub's Nob
Features
Nub’s Nob may have slipped slightly in the Midwest rankings from its lofty No. 1 position last season, but it’s still the top ski-only (no lodging) area in the heartland. Nubs doesn’t have a hotel or four-star cuisine, but it does have an award-winning day lodge and a fanatical passion for making and grooming snow. “Awesome grooming, maybe the best pure skiing in the Midwest,” a reader says. “Skiing is all they do and the staff is always friendly,” observes another.
The Latest
New additions include expanded runs and more glade skiing; a new steeper super pipe, longer beginner pipe and expanded terrain park; and additional snowmaking guns.
The Deal
Beginners of all ages ski free on the Big Time run, complete with its own double chair. This is the 10th year in a row that Nubs has offered free skiing to beginners. nubsnob.com; 800-SKI-NUBS.
