Readers and Riders in the Rockies

GUNNISON-CRESTED BUTTE, COLORADO June 7, 2004 - Come and spend three days at Crested Butte, attend a three day conference, Readers in the Rockies, and enjoy famous authors speaking about their books, dreams, and the personal interior of their lives as writers. Meet authors Tim Cahill, Pam Houston, Stephanie Kane, Donna Gershten, Craig Childs, Holly Payne, and Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer. Or come to the legendary Fat Tire Bike Week featuring guided bike tours, clinics, and yoga and Pilates classes for cyclists, NORBA races, the rodeo, and the one and only chainless race down Kebler Pass. It's as invigorating to watch as it is to participate! There are great viewing points to really get into the excitement!

In late June wildflowers abound as they build toward their crescendo in July in one of Colorado's most scenic high country areas-- a perfect time to be in the Rockies to escape the heat and create your own get away. In addition to Readers in the Rockies, yoga clinics and exciting bike races, you can also choose from among many other fun and exciting activities such as the Mt. Theater production of The Effect of Gamma-Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds and much more happening June 16th through the 30th. And special rates are offered by lodges, outfitters, and Spirit Mind & Body practitioners.

Start the day with breakfast at the Paradise Cafe, go for a hike and take in the evening concert, see a play, go for a long bike ride, take a late afternoon yoga class and go to a lecture, or ride a raft down the Gunnison River, get a massage and dine at one of our fine restaurants. Of course, there is kayaking, fishing, jeeping, horse back riding or just relaxing to add to your choices. Don't forget a historic self guided tour of Crested Butte or visit the Pioneer and Train Museum in Gunnison.
