ALTENMARKT, Austria (Jan. 15)–Corinne Rey-Bellet of Switzerland,whose only previous World Cup wins came in Austria a year ago, collectedanother win in Austria Saturday, capturing a downhill by .15 overGermany’s Regina Haeusl.

Rey-Bellet, starting 19th, was timed in 1:34.47 with Haeusl takingsecond place in 1:34.62. Third place went to Martina Ertl, anotherGerman, with a time of 1:35.11.

Kirsten Clark (Raymond, ME) had the top American result as the Cafe deColombia World Cup schedule shifted from three consecutive giantslalom/SL stops to speed events. Clark finished in 1:36.15 whileCaroline Lalive (Steamboat Springs, CO), who had top-30s in slalom andGS earlier this winter, scored World Cup points in her third disciplineby finishing 29th in the DH; her time was 1:36.69.

Alison Powers (Winter Park, CO) was 36th and Jonna Mendes (Heavenly,CA) was 40th.

The World Cup schedule continues Sunday with a super G in Altenmarkt.
