CLIMBING MT. HOOD
From Silcox the technical climb takes about four to five hours, if you're fit. The Palmer lift gives a nearly 7,000-foot boost, as does an optional cat ride from either Timberline or Silcox. For more information on climbing or for condition updates, call Timberline Guides at 541-312-9242 or visit www.timberlinemtguides.com.
Whether or not you stay a night at Timberline Lodge, catch a meal in the Cascade Dining Room or grab a drink upstairs in the Ram's Head Bar. Settle in by the windows for a backdrop of the Cascade Range.
