Park City, UT, Sept. 19, 2001 (STN)–The U.S. Ski & Snowboard Team Foundation will hold its annual Ski and Snowboard Balls in six major cities this fall ¿ San Francisco (Sept. 28), New York City (Oct. 18), Boston (Oct. 19), Denver (Oct. 30), Chicago (Nov. 9), and seven days before Opening Ceremonies, in Salt Lake City (Feb. 1).
In addition to the black tie balls, several regional events kick off the 2002 competitive season in Silicon Valley (Sept. 29), Seattle (Nov. 2), Buffalo (Nov. 10), Los Angeles (Dec. 6), Sun Valley (Dec. 28) and Aspen (Dec. 29).
In attendance at the balls will be Olympic medalists Billy Kidd (silver ’64), Cindy Nelson (silver ’80), Phil Mahre (gold ’84), Steve Mahre (silver ’84), Tommy Moe (gold ’94), and Donna Weinbrecht (gold ’92) along with Olympic contenders for the 2002 Games like Joe Pack (aerials), Chad Fleischer (alpine), Jonna Mendes (alpine), Emily Cook (aerials), Sondra Van Ert (snowboard), Muffy Davis (disabled alpine) and Chris Waddell (disabled alpine).

For more than 30 years the Ski and Snowboard Balls have helped raise money to support athletes in all sport disciplines governed by the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) including alpine, freestyle, snowboarding, nordic sports of cross country, ski jumping and nordic combined and disabled skiing. The funds raised support year-round athlete training, development, competition, and educational needs.
