Getting There White Pass is 150 miles southeast of Seattle¿a 3-hour drive in midwinter. Take Interstate 5 south to Highway 7 to Highway 12 east and continue to the pass.

Lift Tickets Prices for the 1998-99 season were $33 for an adult on weekends and $22 Monday through Friday; Season pass: $600.
Lodging The only slopeside lodging is the Village Inn Condominiums, with prices from $80 to $155 per night during regular season. Call (509) 672-3131. Several modest motels and hotels are in Packwood, 20 miles west, such as the Cowlitz River Lodge (360-494-4444); the Crest Trail Lodge (800-477-5339); and the rustic Hotel Packwood, where bathrooms are down the hall (360-494-5431).
Kid Care Daycare for children ages 2 to 5 available by the hour, half day and full day. Prices range from $7 an hour to $25 for a full day. There’s also a one-hour PeeWee Skee program on the weekends ($12) for children who are ready to go sliding, but who aren’t ready for formal lessons. The Kids’ Clinic offers full-day instructional adventures, with an instructor and lunch provided, for children ages 5 to 12. The cost is $50 per day or $85 per weekend.
Local Ledgends The Mahre brothers¿1984 Olympic medalists who learned to ski here¿still drive up from Yakima to ski a number of days each year. Making a fuss over them, however, is considered both unnecessary and uncouth. As the locals say, “It’s just Phil and Steve.”
