Snowstorm Hits the Northeast

Boulder, CO, Nov. 3--Snow flurries continue today as a storm moves from West Virginia, through New England, and across the Canadian border east of the Great Lakes.

Six inches of natural snowfall covered parts of West Virginia, including Snowshoe Mountain, where the storm is expected to continue through the night.

Along the eastern Great Lakes, two inches of snow fell this afternoon in western New York near Holiday Valley Resort, and 1-2 inches dropped on northwestern Pennsylvania near Whitetail Ski Resort.

Above freezing temperatures in Maine moved rain across the state yesterday, but dry, colder temperatures later this week should create ideal snowmaking conditions.

Light snow dusted the mountains in New Hampshire and Vermont this afternoon at Attitash Bear Peak, NH and Killington, VT. Snow is expected to continue into tomorrow morning.

The storm front also dropped up to seven inches of snow on parts of Quebec, Canada including North Bay and Parry Sound, disrupting flight schedules, and knocking out power.

Snow also fell on Mont-Tremblant this afternoon. The area now reports dry, freezing temperatures, ideal for snowmaking.
