Squaw Valley to Host Sixth Annual Art, Wine & Music Festival

SQUAW VALLEY, CA - (News Release) - The Sixth Annual Art, Wine and Music Festival comes to Squaw Valley on July 21-22, 2007. The two day celebration showcases the work of over fifty juried fine artists, a benefit wine tasting each afternoon, and live musical performances on outdoor summer stages.

The Art, Wine and Music Festival draws talented artists from around the region in a variety of mediums including painting, jewelry, ceramics and photography, as well as large and small California wineries. The festival provides an upscale venue for artists to display and sell original work to the public. The Art, Wine and Music Festival also features live music, performing arts, kid's activities, and endless shopping, dining and outdoor recreation opportunities. The event attendance has grown each year, with last year's event drawing more than 4,000 art and wine enthusiast to the base area of Squaw Valley USA.

On Saturday, July 21, Tony Furtado (solo) and Frame of Mind (acoustic) play the Art, Wine & Music Festival at High Camp's summer stage from 1 to 5 pm. Frame of Mind will play first and open for the concert headliner, Tony Furtado. Jambase.com describes Tony Furtado and his music: "A talented multi-instrumentalist, cross-pollinating rambler, and budding songwriter, Tony Furtado is an eclectic musician with a knack for mining musical gold from the American folk tradition while also incorporating the best of contemporary rock music." Summer Concert Pass on sale in Special Tickets for $60 and valid for six concert dates including Tony Furtado and Frame of Mind at the Art, Wine & Music Festival.

There will be free live music in the base Village on three stages througout the weekend. The Ivan Najera Quintet, will perform Latin jazz music on the center stage from 2 to 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday (July 21 & 22) of the festival.

The weekend also includes a benefit wine tasting featuring select Northern California wineries each afternoon. The proceeds from the tasting benefit the Tahoe Forest Hospital, Arts for the Schools, and the Disabled Ski Foundation. Kids can enjoy crafts, the Sky Jump Bungee Trampoline, candle making, the Flying Trapeze and fun games while adults can browse the art booths, sip wine, and enjoy lunch at one of the many Village restaurants.
