Sunday Driver

If you've ever been impatient with public transportation, you'll appreciate U.S. Ski Teamer Joe Pack's daring vigilantism. After placing second in the January 27 World Cup aerials competition at Sunday River, Maine, Pack went out to celebrate. As the evening turned to morning, a resort shuttle picked up Pack and his friends. At some point the driver got out, and Pack hijacked the van. After dropping off his startled passengers, Pack noticed resort security in hot pursuit. He then applied his acrobatic skills to the wheel and threw an evasive van-360, blowing a tire. The van crawled to a stop, and so did Pack's night.

Grateful to avoid a more serious slap on the wrist, Pack paid Sunday River $188 in damages. "I made a youthful bad decision," he admitted, "and I'm learning from it."
