Supersized Snowstorm in California

So you film Werner Herzog, worthy footage of your buddies skiing das Pow, only to crash on the way down and wreck your camcorder. Sony's SR82, with its shockproof 60GB hard drive, never lets that happen. Files transfer easily to DVD or computer, and the 1.0-megapixel CCD and Carl Zeiss lens make for high-quality images. -P.V. Lake Tahoe, CA, Feb. 1--Snow continued to pound California's Sierra Nevada Mountains over the weekend leaving up to two feet of snow on ski resorts in the area. This latest snowfall comes on top of over twelve feet of new snow in some areas since the New Year.

Heavenly Ski Resort reports up to 22 of new inches within the last 24-hours and close to 15 feet in January. Mammoth Mountain Ski Area and Kirkwood Resort Company also report more than 24-inches of fresh powder since Sunday morning.

In addition to all the fun this abundance of fresh snow offer, ski resorts and the Forest Service are working hard to prevent potentially lethal avalanches, and urge skiers to stay in-bounds and ski responsibly. Forecasters anticipate the snow to keep dumping throughout the week so strap on your ski gear and enjoy the snow.
