Stoneham, Quebec Feb. 25 (AP)--Anja Paerson of Sweden, among the stars on the women's World Cup tour, retained her Junior World Alpine Championships slalom title on Friday, beating Carolina Ruiz-Castillo of Spain by 1.43 seconds.

``It's a great feeling,'' said Paerson, who is eighth in the World Cup overall standings and fourth in the slalom standings. ``You don't get any better than to ski for your nation. It's very important to be a world champion.''

Paerson, who turns 19 next month, completed two runs in 1 minute, 55.08 seconds in retaining the title she won last year at Super Sauze, France.

Daniel Defago of Switzerland won the men's slalom over Mattias Lanzinger of Austria and Marco Sullivan of Tahoe City, Calif.
