- Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort has announced a new teen program designed for skiers who do not want to be in ski school, but need education about the mountain, off-trail safety and form improvement. Greg Liscot, a Snowbird Mountain School instructor and pro rider from Chamonix, France, will coach the Saturday program known as Snowbird Freeski Team.

"Snowbird is much like Chamonix in many ways and the kids are the same too," says Liscot. "They need to learn how to be safe, and they must learn better technique so they can ski with less risk."

The objectives of this new program are to train the skiers and make them progress in freestyle skiing, as well as encouraging skiing on all terrain. A free form setting is designed to appeal to advanced skiers, ages 12 to 16.

Kids check in with the coach each week to find out the plan for the weekend. Depending on the skiers and weather, they will have the option to ski together for half-day, all day, and if the weather is bad, they may not go until Sunday.

Orientation for the kids and their parents begins at 9 a.m., Saturday, March 5, in the Snowbird Center's Cottonwood Room, accessed from Entry 2. For additional information, contact the Snowbird Mountain School at (801) 933-2170.

The fee for the program is $300 and does not include lift tickets.

This program includes 12 half-day sessions, running Saturdays from March 5 to April 19.

Snowbird has received over 383 inches of snow this year and enjoyed one of its best holiday seasons on record.
