“I skied below him and saw his glove,” says Whitefish local Tyler Gardner, who, along with two buddies, was ripping down Montana’s Big Mountain when something caught his eye next to a tree well. The three teenagers started digging and soon found 68-year-old Larry Hanson upside-down, trapped and near death. “We just did what we thought we should do,” Gardner says.
